Mooloolaba

There’s a handful of patrolled beaches around here ideal for taking a dip. Mooloolaba Main Beach is favoured by families, while nudging Alexandra Headland tempts surfers with its reliable waves.

Post-swim, satisfy hunger pangs along the main drag, making the most of the bounty of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants, and bars that populate the stretch.

Afterwards, indulge in some retail therapy at the growing collection of boutiques nestled between venues.

That’s not forgetting The Wharf Mooloolaba, a short wander away. It’s here you’ll find the departure point for the Sunreef Swim with the Whales experience (one of only two places in Australia you’re able to do this); the Yacht Club; and aquatic wonderland SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, wedged alongside even more eating options, the large majority specialising in seafood.

After all, Mooloolaba is home to the largest trawling fleet in the region and boasts a strong boating community, making fruits of the sea a local delicacy. Tuck into prawns fresh from the trawler, or a hefty serving of traditional fish and chips from one of the many beachside vendors.
